Though I know Button and Schumi have little fuel, I'm still excited that they are in the front line.
Someone tell Bernie Ecclestone that I really love team radio. Great idea! Well, except when Button is talking to the team about problems with the first gear during the warm-up lap.
Excellent start by the two Renaults, from 3rd and 4th straight to 1st and 2nd. Button's start not too good, from 1st to 3rd. Schumi is even worse, from 2nd down to 6th, both McLarens got past him.
68/70 - Villeneuve pits for the first time, new nose for the crowd favourite.
60/70 - Alonso team radio: "I could go much faster." Translated: Tell the boss to tell Fisichella (teammate) to let me pass.
58/70 - Schumi pits. After 12 laps?! That light and still couldn't manage pole?! Hard times for Ferrari...
57/70 - Heidfeld and young Schumi fighting for the title of best German driver. Hard times for Schumi...
55/70 - Button pits. Hey, at least he stayed out longer than Schumi.
48/70 - Klien holding up Alonso. As usual, Alonso shows his Spanish temper when he finally gets by. Unfortunately, it was only the fist (and not the middle finger)
47/70 - Ooh ooh! Sato is parking his car. Only Button left to pick up the first points of the season for BAR (not counting the Imola issue that is :-)
46/70 - This is when the good cars are pitting. Renaults and McLarens come in.
42/70 - Team radio Fisichella: "Alonso is right behind you and going about 1.5 secs per lap faster. You need to push mate." Translated: Move your ass or we're going to "ask" you to let Alonso pass (despite team-order being disallowed).
40/70 - I'm loving this team radio stuff!! Alonso: "I'm much faster! What more do I have to do?!" Team: "Overtake him!"
38/70 - Alonso finally gets by Fisichella. So does Montoya. Same for Button. Ooops, Fisichella has to park his car. Poor guy, so much bad luck since his win to open the season in Melbourne.
36/70 - Button and Schumi in for their 2nd stops. Ooouch, 3-stop strategy. Nooo, that's not desperate.
32/70 - Both Montoya and Raikkonen get past Alonso. As with teammate Fisichella, he has to quit as well.
30/70 - With both Renaults out, things are looking good for a podium finish for Button. Though he does have Schumi chasing him.
27/70 - Heidfeld's engine blows-up while Peter Sauber is live on Swiss TV. His reaction: "Ooh ooh, we don't like it when BMW engines develop problems". (Sauber expected to announce by the end of this month that they'll be using BMW engines from 2006 and possibly even that they're being taken over by BMW)
24/70 - Sato rejoins the race! Way to go dude, you're only 24 laps behind.
23/70 - Well, at least Button is on his way to the podium. Not so fast! Button crashes into the wall, race over. Safety car coming out.
Safety car is a little bit confusing today. The usual hectic with everyone going to the pits now. But also; Is Montoya allowed to rejoin the field anywhere? Shouldn't young Schumi be allowed to get past the SC since he's a lap behind?
19/70 - Safety car leaves the track.
18/70 - Race control: "Black flag for Car 10 for exiting pit lane during red light." Race over for Montoya.
5/70 - Sato definitely out of the race now. Still no points for BAR! Not bad for the team that was 2nd in the championship last season.
Final - Raikkonen wins ahead of Schumi, Barrichello and Sauber driver Massa (Villeneuve finishes 9th). Wow, both Ferraris on the podium. Especially Barrichello after starting 20th (last).
